Some of Oakland's most notable visual art takes the form of architecture. Old Oakland features some of the best-preserved Victorian-era commercial buildings on the west coast. The Downtown Oakland Historic District includes the beaux-arts Broadway Building, Renaissance/Baroque-style, 21-story Tribune Tower, Gothic Revival Cathedral Building and many fine examples of classic Art Deco style, the most notable being the Paramount Theatre which opened in 1931. Preservation Park's two landscaped block features sixteen 19th-century Victorian houses.
