Hey, I am moving out to the Bay area this summer. I work in public health. I am outgoing, caring, positive, funny (i would like to think witty,too), and environmentally and socially conscious. i absolutely love reading, traveling, spending time with my family and good friends. I grew up in SF, where I lived all my life until I moved to Oakland (near Lake Merritt) a few years back. I'm probably one of the most unique gals you will ever meet. As far as this computer dating stuff is concerned, I think it's pointless to spend hours IM or emailing back and forth - I'd rather meet in a bar somewhere and figure out in 15 minutes (or less) if there is any reason for us to meet a second time. Is this a desire for efficiency or just laziness? A little of both.

I am basically driven by art and can never, ever, get enough of it: sculpture, painting, performance. The word "art" is a big word, though and I use it to describe everything from Goya, spotting the Brown Twins on Nob Hill, to decaying signage. But most of all, I'm into music. Indian classical, punk, country, blues - theres not a single type of music I donâ??t love. Also, Iâ??ve danced all my life and will continue on right into my grave.

I'm a disgustingly chipper, energetic morning person and breakfast is my favorite meal. On a typical Saturday or Sunday, you'll find me up and out the door at an ungodly hour (I like to say oh-god:30) I love being out in the world when it is fresh, new, quiet, uncrowded and still crisp and cool. There's a feeling of possibility and potential first thing in the morning. I like to take the dog for a long romp at Pt. Isabel or Albany beach then head off to a nearby breakfast/brunch spot. Good coffee is key. I don't care how good the food is, if the coffee tastes like water with a brown crayon dipped in it, I won't go back there. But don't worry I'll let you sleep in if that's your thing. I like early morning company but also find the time to myself refreshing.

I'm slightly old fashioned in some ways. I love it when a man knows how to be a gentlemen. Manners will get you everywhere, I swear ~ it's such a huge turn-on. Also, I subscribe to the idea of people doing what comes naturally to them: you fix the shelf and I'll make you a glass of lemonade or serve the ice cold beer. Win-Win.

I'm an artist- mostly I draw, paint, and make prints having to do with the people and places around me. I get bored easily with things...or people. People not so much, I guess, because they always find a way to surprise me. But I know lots of people and I do lots of things. But I tend to have a problem when it comes to finishing what I've started.

I have a love hate relationship with the city. I moved from the East Bay to the City and now back from the city to the East Bay. I have been back in the East Bay for about 4 months, and I miss the city already. Hereâ??s the deal â?? I was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in a suburban town outside of Houston (called The Woodlands). I decided to move from Texas (San Antonio to be exact) about 5 years ago to the live in the Bay Area, and I will never move outside of the bay area because it is pretty fantastic.

Since I am a Texan I like my own space (parking included) and the outdoors (like a backyard and the sound of crickets), but I really enjoy the city. You be the judge:

City Pros â?? Always something to do somewhere, anywhere, anytime; so many restaurants and so little time (and they donâ??t close at 10 PM); ahh yes â?? public transit (again a love hate relationship here); my cute little neighborhood grocery store who knew me by name; my local flower man; no rodents (other than mice/rats â?? but thatâ??s another story); single people everywhere; my gym in the city; Fort Funston, Buena Vista, and Corona Heights Park (duh â?? I have 2 dogs); my work is in the city; most of my friends are in the city

City cons â?? fog/wind; parking sucks; shared laundry sucks even more; I know everything about my neighbors because I can hear them at a minimum peeing, my car was broken into (god knows why â?? a 2001 Mustang really isnâ??t that cool, and I am pretty sure they werenâ??t after my Ford CD player); random shoe or shoes in the street or placed around the city; angry homeless people (although one told me god bless you the other day); sharing public transit (primarily the N Judah) with homeless people and way too many others

My cottage in East Bay â??

Cons â?? my casa is an Arts in Crafts cottage on the top of a hill â?? which means it is about 62 steps to get to my place from the street (crap I hope I donâ??t break my leg in the next 7 months); I am the only single person for at least a 10 mile radius here in Montclair; I have around 100 moths literally right outside my door (I swear mothman hangs out around my place); I have killed over (no joke) 100 spiders; my landlord is a slumlord; I am on my second raccoon in the attic here (I donâ??t do well when sharing my living quarters with rodents); really big slugs; almost all restaurants close at 10 PM on the weekend

Pros â?? I have my own parking space; no neighbors (I could probably scream bloody murder and my closest neighbor would hear me); huge front/back outside area with nature (rodents, spiders, and moths included); added bonus **washer dryer**; transbay bus picks me up three minutes away from my casa; I get plastic bags here (apparently you only get paper in SF since plastic bags are a no-no); unusually nice people; and because I live so freaking far up I will never be robbed

Basically, I consider myself to be a good person and like to surround myself with folks who feel the same about themselves, and who consider this to be an important and valuable quality. I'm kind, loyal, spontaneous, honest, and active. I appreciate anything even remotely funny, and am interested in and open to an eclectic variety of people (though I am somewhat partial to sagittarians) and activities- willing to try anything at least once. I love to travel and be out and about, but also really enjoy having a warm and welcoming place to come home to. I'm sort of addicted to salt, and often inappropriately add it to stuff that most people would find plenty salty enough to begin with (like chips and pizza). I like wandering around both really urban cities as well as beautiful, remote places (like mountains and beaches). I need a lot of sun and fresh air, and a certain amount of free time to zone out/ daydream (my version of meditating). It's really hard for me to pass up any type of free food, no matter how poor the quality. To wrap it up, I have a phobia of organized couples dancing (though I'm working hard to get over it), cooked mushrooms, and pretty much all food that originates in water (including seaweed, which I realize is a very unpopular aversion).

Because anyone who has never been depressed is, quite frankly, either not paying any attention to the world and its heartbroken state, or they are simply not psychically intuitive enough to absorb much of anything worthwhile--good or bad--and are thus not someone I want to know.

Yes, right, I'm not gunning to get with somebody in a depression, although I wouldn't mind since I have kind of a fixer-upper attitude and love talking about dark shit. I love people-watching, great art, great food. Just like anyone else worth a damn, most of my happiness with friends comes from agreeing to say the same phrase or joke over and over, in various foreign accents, or making fun of Tyra Banks, or watching Babysitter's Club episodes on VHS and saying terrible things over them. If you say something that makes me laugh, do it again soon, over and over--beat it to death, if you please. Talk in retarded voices.

I'm the type of person who will crack up at a goofy Far Side cartoon and can't get enough of movies like Waiting for Guffman. I like hole-in-the-wall bars more than swanky clubs, and red wine over white. I love to curl up with a good book on a rainy day, or rock out to a loud concert at the Warfield or the Fillmore. I've lived on both coasts and am happy to be back home where I don't have to own an ice scraper or figure out how to drive on ice. I'm a mom to two boys, ages 9 and 6. I know many people get freaked out by that fact and automatically assume a million things. Totally understandable! I share 50/50 custody which allows me to have a rather normal life half of the week. I end up having a lot of free time and I don't let being a mom define me completely. My boys are smart, funny, talented, and are basically the source of everything amazing in my life. However, I also really enjoy my time "off".

I'm passionate about learning new things and experiencing things I feel like I have missed out on. I try to be the best friend, mom, daughter, stranger that I can. Always trying to grow as much as possible, fill my life with positive people who bring out the best in me, not dwell on the past, and thinking about my future.
